申请藤校SAT成绩依然是重要参考要素

　　“ 随着前期SAT 等考试的取消，很多大学都发布了对应的录取评估政策的应对与调整，但随着国内一些公众号的倾向解读：很多人问，SAT不重要了，文书和活动对于下一届的申请人更重要了。事实是如此吗？”

　　我们先来看看藤校们的近期通知：

　　其实没有一家藤校在英文的通知原文中说过：我们会“更”加注重文书和活动。

　　按藤校一贯的录取评估逻辑和框架“holistic review”。GPA，标化，文书和活动等等一直都是综合评估中的重要因素，都需要，所有因素综合起来后再做取舍，任何单项因子都不会过度放大。

　　01 藤校近期关于SAT考试的通知

　　哈佛大学

　　We know that there are fewer opportunities to take the SAT or ACT given the cancellations to date. This means that many students may not be able to take these tests more than once. The fact is that there are diminishing returns in taking these tests multiple times, and we hope students will not feel compelled to do so now or in the future.

　　耶鲁大学

　　Yale requires applicants to report results from either the ACT or the SAT.

　　普林斯顿

　　While applicants will still be expected to submit standardized test results as part of their application, we know you might not have the opportunity to take these tests multiple times.

　　哥伦比亚

　　accept SAT and ACT scores from November test dates for Early Decision applicants and scores from January test dates for Regular Decision applicants.

　　宾大

　　will continue to require students submit SAT or ACT scores.

　　康奈尔大学

　　requires either the SAT or all ACT scores，does not require the writing section，considers superstore

　　布朗大学

　　At this time, our advice is that students should do their best to prepare for the SAT or ACT — students should not feel pressure to take the test multiple times.

　　几乎所有的藤校对待 SAT 考试的要求都有类似表态：

　　我们还是需要 SAT 或 ACT 考试，哪怕考试次数减少了。而且我们认为考试次数减少了，并不会影响优秀学生的考试成绩；

　　标化考试成绩只是我们录取评估过程中诸多因素的一个而已，它重要但不是唯一；

　　SAT 科目考试成绩可以不提交，不会影响评估。AP 考试成绩，如果没有，也可以理解。

　　02　藤校关于SAT科目考试的态度

　　哈佛大学

　　You will not be disadvantaged in any way

　　耶鲁大学

　　will not consider SAT Subject Tests for first-year applicants during the 2020-2021 admissions cycle (Class of 2025)

　　普林斯顿

　　While our policy has long been that SAT subject tests are recommended but not required, now seems the appropriate time to reiterate that applicants who do not submit subject tests will not be disadvantaged in our process.

　　哥伦比亚

　　宾大

　　For the 2020-21 admissions cycle, SAT Subject Tests will be optional (i.e., neither required nor recommended) for applicants.

　　03 藤校相关通知的解读

　　美本申请可能需要的考试，包含三类：

　　第一类是基于评估阅读，逻辑，写作或通用知识的考试： SAT 或 ACT ；

　　第二类是基于科目知识的评估考试： SAT 科目考试或 AP考试；

　　第三类是非母语国际考生的语言考试：托福、雅思，PTE 或多邻国

　　目前来看，对于SAT，ACT 以及语言考试的要求并无什么调整，对于科目类考试的要求则调整为，可不提交或不提交对申请评估也没影响。

　　那么拔哥对此的看法是：对于计划申请美国优质大学的中国学生而言，科目考试从来都不是问题。从掌握的数据和经验来看，对于这一类特定学生群体，基本上没人会在SAT科目考试成绩或AP 考试成绩上遭遇明显的优劣势。所以今年的这类调整，其实应该会把原有的基于科目考试成绩评估权重转移至 SAT /ACT 或是 GPA。

　　对于一小部分申请人而言，基础能力很好，准备得当，而且特别适应这类标准化考试的评估方式，一两次就可以考出理想SAT/ACT成绩，减少的考试次数并不会影响他们取得考试成绩。

　　但对大部分申请人来说，分数和准备考试次数在一定范围内是呈正相关。藤校们说：我们不认为考试次数的增加会大幅度考试成绩的回报率。但这可能是针对那一小部分的申请人而言。

　　做好充分准备再参加考试是必要的，下一年的申请中，SAT/ACT 成绩的选拔效应可能会比往年更明显。即，SAT/ACT 会拉开分数上的差距，

　　尽管会有一学期的网络课程，但不少高中并不会调整GPA的评估方式，所以对于科目标化考试的缺失，会通过对学生GPA ，科目相关学术活动或奖项来对应评估。

　　简言之，我不认为明年的美国大学申请对于申请人而言，评估要素会发生重大变化和调整。只是在学术因素的评估环节中做了一定的调整，考试该考的还是要考。

　　某种程度上 SAT 因为考试次数少了，反而就会更容易形成自然定位的趋势。刷考试的机会也少了，如果基础积累不够扎实，考前准备不够充分，自然就会被拉开差距。 但以藤校为代表的优质美本，所录取的就是极小比例的优秀学生，所以这一点不会对他们有什么影响。

　　至于文书，同样还是重要的评估一环，但如果说因为对科目考试的要求做了更宽松的调整，就会更加看重文书，这也不符合优质美本“Holistic Review 全面评估”的框架逻辑。因为文书同样也只是全面评估中的一个环节，过度强调文书的单一重要性也是不客观的。
